Preschool for 3-year-olds is rolling out from 2026 to 2032.
From 2026, the government 3-year-old preschool rollout will start in regional and remote areas.

Until then, all children can continue to attend preschool the year before they start school.

The existing 15-hour entitlement for 3-year-old Aboriginal children and children in care will also continue.

How do I enrol my child

Parents need to contact the kindergarten about the age of 3. You will need to provide the Kindergarten with information that pertains to your intent to enrol.

Register to enrol in preschool

This includes your child’s name, birth-date, residential contact details, intended school and any special needs your child may have.

Parents are then contacted in the term prior to Kindergarten to confirm their enrolment and proceed with full enrolment.

At times of full capacity Rostrevor Kindergarten operates under a Priority Access Policy.

When a Priority Access Policy is in place parents may need to register their intent to enrol at a second kindergarten to ensure their child receives a preschool placement.

Enrolment at local schools does not automatically ensure a place at Rostrevor Kindergarten.

Preschool

Children attend in one of the following groups:

YELLOW GROUP: Attend Monday and Tuesday

BLUE GROUP: Attend Wednesday and Thursday

Sessions run from 8.15am – 3.45pm Monday to Thursday

At times where capacity allows all Morning sessions may be available at 15 hours per week at the discretion of the Director on an as need basis.

Under Universal Access you will need to provide your child with a packed lunch in addition to two separate snacks. Acceptable healthy lunches are found listed in the Lunch Care section of this booklet.

Occasional Care

While we do not offer a child care service their are plenty of other options for child care in and around the Rostrevor area.

Options may include a child care centre or Family Day Care educator.

For assistance in locating our closest child care centres speak with one of our staff or for Family Day Care assistance phone the Family Day Care Business and Customer Support Centre on 8343 6533 or 1300 551 890

Governing Council

Parents are invited to join the Governing Council at the AGM (Thursday Week 6, Term 1).

All parents are welcome to attend and contribute to management and decision-making that affects the Kindergarten.

Governing Council meetings are Wednesdays week 3 and 8 at 5.30pm now in 2024.

A sign informing dates for the next meeting is placed by the main door a week before. Dates will also be listed in the Newsletter.
